VA Two-family House – Raffaele Ripoli Architect

The elementary forms of spontaneous rural construction, that is, the “architectures without author” still present in the territorial context, are the references to the rough design of these two small housing units merged, inland of the Valley Savuto in Calabria. The building that consists of two equal and symmetrical apartments, spread over two floors, in floor plan is a square. The first level is the living area, the second level is the sleeping area. An “innovation compatible” with the traditional form, is formed in this project by the “dig” in the facades that determines the plasticity of the architectural object and interior-outdoor spaces to the house. The proposed materials also refer to the local tradition: stone-bearing walls left exposed and partly plastered, and the hut roof with internal wooden structure protected by the metal cover.
