The restoration project regards part of the of the Palazzo Greco building located in the S.Giuseppe Cathedral Square in the town of Diano, Scigliano. The project involved strengthening the masonry structures, rebuilding the wooden floors , removing some unrelated or additional parts to the original plan, and a new more rational layout of the interior with minimal design choices in harmony with the historical architectural heritage and rural regional traditions. The materials used are local and many times recycled : These include lime plaster, a wood and iron staircase, hardwood and colored/stained concrete floors from recycled material in the atrium, the stone door steps in the local S.Lucido stone , chestnut wood window-frames and fixtures including the inside shutters and wooden lintels. The layout is on two levels. The entrance floor is characterized by the “new” double volume atrium (after demolition of the slab) with concrete colored floor and restored wooden ceiling leading to the living room and the bedroom area accessible through the staircase. The outdoor area was planned according to a conservative plan, by restoring the original wood window frames and iron balconies, preserving the “romanelle” cornice and clay tiled roof.
