PD Single Family House – Raffaele Ripoli Architect

The project is a result of a moderately articulate plan created by the simplest formal building criteria and habitat space quality. A Mediterranean terraced house and a single a framed farm-house coexist as a one unit home in this project. The new house is designed by merging together two types, each one different by function and materials. The first one in masonry and painted white, with large glass windows toward South and West is where the daily activities are carried out. The second one in stone (local golden ochre tuff), with traditional window openings and balconies is where the bedrooms are located and where the guests stay. The interior space on the first level of the house, partially underground, is articulated around the patio and characterized by a double-height living room that opens onto the gallery-balcony, and a tunnel path connects the entrance with the other rooms of the house. The structure of the walls is made of bricks bearing the alveolater and the lateral-concrete floors, he facades are partly plastered white and partly in stone (local sandy-ochre tuff).
