Public park with municipal swimming pool – Raffaele Ripoli Architect

The redevelopment of a public area built in the 1970s and connecting the two main villages of the town of Scigliano, arises from the need of the current municipal administration to equip the country with a space of strong aggregation of the community. The program includes the inclusion in the existing space of an entrance forecourt with a picnic area, a parking area with benches and children’s games and a municipal outdoor swimming pool with a distinct solarium and separate from the rest. The shape of the area is irregular and elongated. The space is divided into four functional areas: an entrance area marked by bollards, a picnic area with green carpet and wooden tables, a central area equipped with benches and several children’s games and finally an area that includes the dressing room with structure and white lacquered wood panelling, outdoor swimming pool and solarium. The architectural language is strongly characterized by a minimalist language in the main elements of the project: the rectangular pool (memory of the ancient gebbies), the dressing building in the shape of a hut (memory of the first wooden settlements made in nearby Sila), the long balcony that delimits downstream the park space with an essential railing and the pre-existing concrete upstream wall plastered with rough patina. The flooring made with “proletarian” concrete tiles is reddish in the entrance area, while it is gray in the central area for the parking space and children’s games. The artificial green cap separates and connects the different areas of the area. The lighting is a spot in LED in the entrance path and in the forecourt children’s games.
