SM Home – Raffaele Ripoli Architect

The house was built in 1975. The fabrication plan at that time allowed for the achievement of greater volume tria with as little footprint as possible in the plan and as a result the building visually was a little high. The aim of the project is to reduce this current height through the enlargement of the basement with the living area, and the construction of a long terraced balcony. And at the same time with this new horizontalism you create a kind of continuity with the natural terraces present within the property. There is also an extension in the area whose slightly steep roof ramp houses a parking lot on the surface, becoming at the same time the entrance for the apartments of the attic and for the land around the dwelling. The “new” downstream front strongly characterizes the overall intervention through the presence of a continuous plinth with large windows in the new “living” that open the house to the beautiful surrounding landscape. Even the large balcony continues partly terraced and the presence of balconies are “rediscovered” Mediterranean architectural elements. Finishing materials such as earth-coloured “Mediterranean rough” plaster will accentuate in the plinth the deliberately sought detachment in the design phase between the “new” horizontal part (earth color) and the pre-existing vertical part refurbished (lighter colored ) in such a way as to visually reduce the height of the original building. The design choices are minimalist and essential according to the dictates of the language of modern and contemporary architecture. The current three-storey building is intended for 1 family and has only one entrance. In the renovation and expansion, the interior spaces were also planned to give answers in terms of functionality and use of the spaces in order to divide the building into 4 separate housing units, with entrance Independent. Planned interventions: 1 Construction of a land access ramp 2 Renovation and extension of the building 3 Realization of the perimeter fence of the entire land owned 4 Grade intervention for the best usability of the land adjacent to the building. Main materials: c.a. structures for extension, supporting masonry and attic for living extension, prepainted aluminum fixtures, facade railings and external iron ladders with essential design, laminated structure and insulated Greek plate for roof refurbishment. The work is planned in several stages.
